Depends on how your controller presents itself, or rather how the kernel sees
it. Some controllers show up as /dev/hd... devices, like the Sil-3112a.
Some, like (I think some Promise cards) show up as /dev/sd... devices.
look through /var/log/boot.msg for a clue
