Hey there.
Im a noob having a crazy time trying to configure Samba. Heres my setup.
3 Machines are in a workgroup, connected with D-link Wifi Router. Dont want
to create a domain.
1 Suse 9.1 Desktop
1 Windows XP Pro Desktop
1 XP/Suse Dual Boot Laptop (Samba not setup on this machine yet, so count it
as a windows machine)
I setup the samba server and client thru YaSt. Made some piddley changes in
the conf file.
Pinging only works with IP addy, not NetBIOS name. I can view & mount the
windows shares (using IP only) but I cant see the Suse machine in Network
Neighbourhood in XP. I tried the LinNeighborhood but that doesnt find any
workgroups. In fact the 'Browse' for Domains/Workgroups in the Yast samba
setup didnt find any workgroups either
I figure its something to do with name resolution and NetBIOS but im lost
and it's only been 2 weeks since ive had suse and i cant seem to find much
documentation on setting up samba with XP on a workgroup.
Any links, tips or walkthoughs appreciated!
Ill post the .conf file if needed.. lemme know..
Thanx..
