    hi folks

i was trying to install Novell Linux Desktop on a P4 , 845 chipset ,
20GB Maxtor Hdd, 128mb ram with Win98 already installed on complete
20GB of the disk of which only 4gb was used .

first the system was defragrameted in win98. then started the NLD
installation and resized the HDD to 14GB and 5 GB free space was
created for Linux . but during resizing process it showed 40% complete
and kept on listing directories it was processing for almost 1.5 hrs
and then the system froze with constant hdd and cdrom activity.
finally after 2.5 hrs when the system was rebooted windows had been
corrupted, the system was not resized.

any idea what could have caused this ? earlier i have resized boxes
installed with win2k / winxp etc without any errors

    any help is appreciated

    Harsh
