    I would like to add that your mouse appears to be a PS2 model. When
    you are able to choose mouse model opt for the explorer PS2 version.
    If nothing else works then you may need to restart the install from
    scratch. Just let the 1st CD do a fresh install wiping everything
    including the partition table - unless you are dual booting of course.
     When things have gone awry I've always found this to be the best
    route rather than trying to repair bits that you are not sure about.
