Laptop is a 2.8 Ghz Mobile P4 (HT) w/512MB RAM

The install seems to go fine until the final logon to the system (all
post 9.3 release updates were done fduring install).

I enter my username and password, and KDE begins loading. It gets to the
point of "Initializing Peripherals" and just kind of stalls there.

Dmesg shows problems with "powernow" complaining "this module only works
with AMD K7 CPUs" and then when acpi-cpufreq starts, it gives:

ACPI-0294: *** Error: Looking up [_PPC] in namespace, AE_ALREADY_EXISTS
    ACPI-0601: *** Warning: During name lookup/catalog, AE_ALREADY_EXISTS
Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address
    00000008

This appears to be pretty much the last thing it runs as it hangs.

I had this problem with SuSE 9.2, which kept me at 9.1... I'd really
hoped that Novell/SuSE would get things figured out two releases from
the last time it worked properly.

NO other Linux distro I've tried has given me this kind of trouble.
    (Ubuntu, Fedora, Mandrake...)

    Ideas?
