    I suspect your 4 port router contains a dhcp server, (because its hard
    to find one of these that does not contain such a thing).

    If so just set your computers to get their ip via dhcp.
    In fact you can test this bit before the adsl dude gets there
    because the router does not need a internet connection
    to allow you to create your local network.

    The router can usually be configured by pointing your
    web browser to what ever your own IP (except a 1 in the
    last octet).
