    I don't get the update button, ever, period, with SuSE's packages.

    Only for 1.0.3 and only /after/ the recent vulnerability was announced
    has extension installation been made to work like that - normally, one
    could just click an 'Install' link and, after a dialog or two, the
    extension would be installed and ready for use after firefox was
    restarted.
