First off, make sure you have applied all the updates using yast
online update. From the patch file xorg-x11-libs-52303:

    Longdescription.english:
Fix font display problems showing up with internationalized
applications using legacy toolkits like gtk1, Athena
Widgets, etc., e.g. xmms. This happened when using
languages like Czech, Russian, Greek and others. Depending
on which fonts are installed the previous update could
result in 100% CPU usage by the Xserver when starting such
    applications. This is fixed now.
    Hsilgne.noitpircsedgnol:

    [end quote]

After doing that, you might consider switching your window manager to
something which is more efficient like fvwm2 (my favorite and very,
very fast and exceptionally powerful when configured correctly.)
