I have an external disk unit that supports Firewire and USB, formatted
with ext3.
When I use the USB cable, my SuSE 9.3 laptop detects the drive and mounts it.
But, when I use Firewire, it gives me various problems.
At first it would not detect the disk at all.
Then I booted the machine with Knoppix live CD and it detected and
mounted the disk without any problems.
I rebooted the machine with the disk connected and this time SuSE
detected the disk, but failed to see the partition, so no device was
created
Then I switced the disk off and on again and then SuSE detected the
disk and the partition and tried to mount it, but the mount failed.
Any idea what the problem could be?
I googled, but did not find any answers.
