Hi,
In my previous response about my experience updating to KDE 3.4.2, I
mentioned that Kat was integrated but not working. Well, I got it
working correctly. It was easy, actually.
I just launched the application (K menu -> Utilities -> Desktop -> Kat)
and it detected that I had not yet configured it and initiated a set-up
wizard. After going through that (and finding and installing antiword
*), it started indexing and for the first time ever, indexed my entire
publications directory (1,463 files, 154 folders, 503,883,195 bytes)
without crashing.
(*) The set-up wizard told me I didn't have antiword and hevea
installed. They appear not to be available on the 9.3 DVD. I found
antiword on <http://rpm.pbone.net/> (I used the 9.2 version, whose RPM
dependencies were met on my 9.3 system). However, I've not yet found
hevea. Can anybody tell me where I might find it? It's not on
rpm.pbone.net and I looked at the Guru's RPM site, but it didn't seem
to be there. Since there's no search function on that site, so I could
well have overlooked it.
I acquire various technical publications without reservation, but I've
ceased to try to organize them. Finally, I can start to find things
again! I've been wanting to use Kat for some time. Now finally I can.
