    The following applies to SuSE 9.3 (and perhaps earlier versions but I have 9.3
    so can't be sure).

    Use YaST->Sucurity and users->Firewall to temporarily disable the firewall and
    see if that fixes the problem. Be sure "Start-Up" is selected on the left and
    then use the button that says "Stop firewall now".

    If that fixes your problem, post your file /etc/sysconfig/SuSEfirewall2.
