I dunno. I have some bizarre behavior with screen savers, too. I have it
currently set to the photo saver but recently had the matrix one.
I'm on a laptop with 9.3, and acpi is enabled, with power saving set. On
some occasions the saver kicks in correctly after a few minutes. On others,
the screen just goes blank. On still others, the screen stays on.
When I hit ctrl+alt+L to lock the screen, the same effect occurs.
Now, I don't often reboot the machine and have it both plugged in and on
battery. I usually suspend it to disc between home, the car (I carpool) and
work.
