    Hello all,

It has been some time since I was on this list. I
began with SuSE 6.4 and once I got to a stable system
with 7.3 that worked for me, I didn't touch it for a
few years. Now I've updated to 9.3 (on the hypothesis
that the x.0 releases usually need a bit of work), and
I'm pretty pleased. I've just downloaded the updates
    to GNOME from

    /pub/suse/i386/supplementary/GNOME/update_for_9.3/base/

I have a few questions, and any help would be
appreciated, as the SuSE site contains precious little
    documentation for these updates.

    1. What is the upside of this installation?
    2. What is the downside? I seem to remember rpm
    dependency nightmares, inconsistent library naming,
etc. whenever I used to do an update to a major system
    component.
    3. What are some gotchas?
    4. What order should the rpms be installed with? There
seems to be no obvious way to get YAST to do this for
    me.

    Thanks.

    Corvin
