[SLE] floppy drive problems with SuSE 9.3

Sounds like the data cable is backwards, I have done it many times it is
easy to do.

Both plugs on the floppy drive ribbon cable are "keyed" so that they can only go into the motherboard and floppy drive one way. Cannot be turned over. I tried reversing the ribbon cable end-for-end and replugging opposite ends into the MB and floppy. But that did not make any difference. Any other ideas? Thanks.
