I use easytag after ripping to do my tags - it's a wonderful program
that can do cddb lookups and has some level of batch operation. It
comes with SUSE

Why mp4? I thought Apple used the aac format? (I don't have an ipod, so
I don't know). You can make aac files with faac. But I'm sure it can
handle mp3?
