I did a google search and found this( you might not need to put your
old monitor on, since you can use the new one):
Connect your old monitor to the box.
Open X-windows, at a terminal type "system-config-display"
When the "DISPLAY SETTINGS" window comes up (you might have to enter
the root password), go to HARDWARE and select "Generic LCD Display"
with whatever resolution your LCD display supports.
Then in the Display Settings window go back to the first tab and select
the resolution for your new LCD.
After your screen size has changed, disconnect your monitor and connect
your LCD.
Can't promise this will work since I don't have your hardware here to
test, but this is how I would do it.

Installation on my Inspiron 1100 laptop running a Syntax USB-400
Wireless LAN Adaptor did not need configuration as SUSE saw it and
configured it during setup, this was not the case with 9.3. SUSE 10
DID recognize my DELL E173FP monitor for my Dimension 3000 by make and
model, and automatically configured the on-board graphics chip to
1280X1024 with the proper i865 driver right out of the gate (in 9.3,
it didn't recognize the FP by exact make & model (no problem though),
it only had the i810 driver, and preconfigured the resolution to
800X600 (no problem though, I just had to adjust it to 1280X1024
during installation) .

did you go to init 3 and run sax2 ??? to configure it??
