I think that is odd, since my DVD+R discs play just fine. I just did
another one to be certain. ( no coasters.) I didn't see your original
post , but are you talking about making one of those weird things that
leaves the disc open so you add things to it later?

That open ended disc doesn't work very well in Linux as far as I know.
In fact if you choose that option in k3b there used to be a warning to
that effect.( i.e. It's not 100% safe to do it. That will indeed make
coasters of any DVD, or CD you put in.) K3b ,and I thought XCDRoast
also, needs to fixate or whatever you call the need to put some logical
ending to the recording so various brands of DVD player can recognize
and play your discs.
