Hi,
when you boot with the suse install disk, you choose installation, after
the system configuration YAST should give you a suggested repartition
leaving windows intact....... does this not happen?
You shouldnt have to mess around with using a separate re-partitioner at
all, just let YAST do it for you. From my experience it usually takes
about 1/2 the available space for suse, and leaves 1/2 for windows.
The hardware is exactly the same, no changes what so ever has been done.
Running Installation/Safe Install from CD gets as far as looking for
hardware then gives error of no hard drive found, it does not get as far
as offering to auto partition the drive.
Looks like it does not recognize the controller or the drive
correctly, and it did not load the right module to make it run. Try
using some other live cd (knoppix, or even SuSE live) to boot and see
if it will recognize the HDD. If it did, check which modules it uses,
and try to make the installer to use them as well.
