I did a YaST search for PROVIDES and found Python provides this:
libpython2.4.so.1.0

either you spelled it wrong or the developer did..

A search for a package that provides libpython2.4so.1.0 is
turning up nothing. Any help would be appreciated.

but libpython2.4.so.1.0 appears not to be available in a package for SUSE 9.2. ... (SuSE)
