You didn't say anything about which kernel version you've got, so you
may or may not have this module. Try "modprobe dmfe" and let us know
what it says - optionally post the last few lines of "dmesg".

suse 10 boxed (whatever kernel version it installs) -- but I will get
the modprobe data also and post it.

I may also use the "reintstall cd" to put everything back as from the
factory, just to see the nic info
