Hello

I have a dual boot Thinkpad (R40 with XP / Linux) and want to remove Ubuntu
and install openSUSE without touching my M$ XP (required for work). How do
I uninstall GRUB, reinstate LILO / openSUSE, and leave the M$ XP partition
bootable from LILO? Linux partition maybe overwritten.
Thanks for all your help in advance.

Actually by installing SuSE over ubuntu and opting for lilo over
grubm, you ought to be able to achieve your end.
