Re: [SLE] Firefox going down or what?

Hi.
Thanks for the advice with mozilla's build. I tried it. And... I
dunno. :-\ It's really faster than one I've got from SuSE. It hasn't
found flash plugin though. I guess that's why even the sites with
flash like the one I've told do not slow down the browser. And now I'm
totally confused. Should I install flash plugin? ;-) Need to try.

Thanks,
Roma.

PS I even have had thought to try mozilla's sources to build firefox
at my machine. If I'll have some free time I'll going to try that one
and post the results.

PPS In answer to James Wright:
All other browsers (Opera, Konqueror) work really fast on this
machine. I am connected via LAN inside which there is satellite dish
(approx half-megabit). Connectin works good enough. None of the
extensions/themes (except default ones) are installed.

I don't really know if it is relevant but you might be interested in
hearing that Flash is not always working correctly in the Windows
version of Firefox. I have 1.5.0.1 on this Win 2000 tin. Over the
last couple of days I have had the browser positively lock up for
about a minute. I then get a little box telling me that a Flash
animation is causing Firefox to run very slowly. Too right it's
sloooooooow. I don't know whether it is Flash at fault or Firefox.
It does seem very strange that it appears to be happening for some
people with Linux too.

Just as a reminder, I am unable to check it on SuSE at the moment as
that PC is being rebuilt; I'm having to wait for parts to arrive :-(((
