Hi all,
Ever since I've been playing with the i8k utilities to make the friggin'
fans on my Dell Latitude d800 a bit quieter I've had weird issues.
Chief of these is the habit of KDE to spawn off about a gazillion
kmixers, until I stop it by killing -9 kdeinit? This happens both as a
user and as root. Renaming .kde doesn't help: I still get them.
Anyone got a suggestion?
It might be something to do with KMilo, it has i8k specific code for the i8k's
volume buttons. I spoke to a user in #kde a whle back who had problems that
he couldn't unmute sound when running kmilo on a newer dell with i8k, which
went away when he disabled i8k. You could try turning off KMilo with
"kcmshell kcmkded", look in the Startup Services section.
