[SLE] eth1 vs. eth2

I am encountering something kinda odd and thought perhaps someone on this list could assist me. The problem is in the static IP assigned to an add-in card keeps flip flopping on restarts to either eth1 or eth2. I am running SuSE 9.3 fully patched. Thanks.
