i can´t see this changes in the release notes on the samba site.
interesting for me is the ability to change machine names and the
performance increasments regarding ldap. where can i find detailed
information about these changes?

I don't know if you can find detailed information about the changes. You
might hit the samba list, where the samba team members hang out and ask
them specific questions about what's been updated.

Obviously, if you're good enough, you can always look at the code. <G>

Keep in mind that while Samba is public, changes that are made to Samba
may be there to fix integration with proprietary software. In that case, I
doubt you'd see documentation to the online information.
