So what is strange about those numbers?

glxgears basically only tests the speed of glxSwapBuffers() - anything
above 60 FPS is syntactic sugar and doesn't tell you anything.

So maybe glxSwapBuffers() is highly optimized in Mesa, but that doesn't
count. It's totally irrelevant, as it will not be called more than 60
times per second.

The nv driver does not support *any* hardware acceleration, so no wonder
UT is slow.

You wanna be *really* impressed with how fast your card is? :-)

When running glxgears, minimise it and let it run for a minute or so. Boy, ain't your card the fastest one on the block! :-) .
