uname -a spits out something like that:

You can do:
cat /proc/cpuinfo
This will tell you exactly what CPU you have, but a 64-bit OS will not even
boot on a 32-bit CPU. Intel Pentium 4 CPUs can be either 32-bit or 64-bit.
You can force install a 32-bit OS on your system if you prefer.
Additionally, 32-bit applications will run on 64-bit systems.
