Now my Question. Would setting up a caching DNS server help this
situation and if so,
Not for the speed test, I think: it should not involve name look up.
Otherwise, maybe.
does anyone have any guidance in doing this?
Just install the named package from SuSE, it will do caching without
configuring anything (just the forwarders), unless they changed it.
I had been thinking about doing this as well. I checked and there
doesn't seem to be a named package. Instead, named is part on the bind
package. So it seems bind is what needs to be installed.
