I also find the default delay before keyboard-repeat in Suse very short.
You want to go to Personal Settings / Peripherals / Keyboard and
increase the delay until you feel comfortable. I am using 850 ms and I
had to change this value in every Suse installation, since I started
using it several years ago. I must have slow fingers...
