I have replaced my dead monitor with new widescreen LCD ViewSonic VX2025 with native resolution 1680x1050 (I think it is equal to Apple Cinema Display and other 20.1" analogs).

I've some ideas, see below. Especially the "ModeValidation" options.
It should be enough.

One thing which Andrei didn't mention, and I asked him for the answer which he is yet to send me, is which video card he is using. Not all cards are able to do the resolution for the w/xcreen monitor(s) and I suspect that this is what his problem is.

In the specs for this VideoSonic there is specific mention that certain video cards *will* work with this monitor - and I happen to have one of those (nVidia FX 5500). However, before actually buying the monitor I asked the tech at the store if the card I do want to use with the monitor - nVidia GeForce 6600 - will work and the answer was, "Yes"- and it does :-) .

Cheers.
