It looks like modem is not listed in the list. So how? What does this
mean then?

This means that I have to agree with M Harris.
If you need it buy one USB modem, so you can use it anywhere.

I was looking on
Google,
Intel web site,
in
/usr/share/pci.ids (that is used by lspci) and
kernel sources documentation
/usr/src/linux/Documentation/sound/alsa/ALSA-Configuration.txt
and I couldn't find anything applicable for modem.

What I was looking is similarity with ICH 4,5,6 that have audio and modem in
one and this ALSA web page has listed something about ICH southbridge
HD-audio and modem:
http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/index.php?vendor=vendor-Intel#matrix
to find that driver is hda-intel. There is a lot about sound, but I wasn't
able to find anything about the modem.

The Ricoh is 1180, Unknown device 0843 is between:
0841 R5C841 CardBus/SD/SDIO/MMC/MS/MSPro/xD/IEEE1394
0852 xD-Picture Card Controller
so it is probably newer version of card bus controller.

The wireless should be supported with driver for Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200BG
Network Connection. See:

alternative is described here
