I would not recommend Dell's laptops in general. My experience with
them is that the construction is shoddy and they're unreliable if you
actually use them as laptops. The flexing seems to work internal
connections loose. If you just let them sit on a desk and use them as
miniature desktop systems they're OK.
If you want quality and rugged get a Thinkpad.

I use ibm (now lenovo) thinkpad from more years, and run very good with
linux... At moment I use a G40 model and I will buy new thinkpad. Wath model
you suggest ?
(it is more important the presence of the red trackpoint...)
