I wouldn't be surprised if you have run into a 64-bit issue.

Possibly. Firefox on the 10.1 machine is the 32bit v1.5.0.7, while on
the 10.2 machine it is the 64bit v2.0.0.2. Strangely, the 64bit version
of Konqueror on both 10.1 and 10.2 will work with your video. This
implies it's specifically a Firefox problem.

Do you have a 32-bit version of Firefox loaded with the 32-bit mplayer
handy?

I'll bet all will work.

Only on 10.1, and that does work.

I almost bought a 64-bit laptop, but chickend out and got a 32-bit
one. I've heard too much about 64-bit and end user systems not working
as expected. This is even the case on the vaunted Wintendo Vista
64-bit.

As you can see from my .sig I have a mix of machines and, with the
exception of flash not working with a 64bit Firefox, I've not really
noticed any problems. I've also not noticed much in the way of extra
speed on the 64bit systems, but that is totally beside the point.
