The distinction that needs to be drawn is between the Core Duo and the
Core 2 Duo. They are very different chips. The Core Duo is 32-bit only.
The Core 2 series is x86_64. It does 32-bit, too. I don't know whether
32-bit mode is an integral part of x86_64 or if Core 2 is supporting
both the 32-bit and 64-bit architectures independently.
