Can you use Ctrl-Alt-F10 to switch to terminal, before it crashes, to see the
log. Than you can test output on Alt-F1, Alt-F2, etc, but skip Alt-F7 because
it is standard GUI with YaST, that doesn't tell much.
This might be helpfull to debug.
If you have another machine on same LAN you can setup log facility there as
described in:
http://en.opensuse.org/YaST_Remote_Logging_in_Installation
that will probably the best way to troubleshoot problem.
