Then:
ctrl+alt+backspace
Then installed compiz-git-all via yast
Then removed both xgl packages using yast
Then:
ctrl+alt+backspace again
Then did instruction 4 from here:
http://dev.beryl-project.org/~cyberorg/suse/38/
