kdesu kate /etc/fstab was a good hint, thanks:
/dev/disk/by-id/scsi-SATA_SAMSUNG_HD501LJS0MUJ1DP612895-part5 /disk12
ext3 defaults 1 2
so i can now do su, root password, then:
chown username -R /disk12
chown root -R /disk12/lost+found
I think this should be offered in the GUI.
it is:
in the address and i had to open fstab to see where it is mounted.
