Have you tried opening and forwarding port 5901.
After reading this suggestion from yourself and others I changed the forwarding accordingly.
So far, I cannot get a connect with TightVNC, RealVNC, or FreeNX.
I can connect with putty in console mode. (which is okay)
I tried to install on a 10.3 box the x11vnc Server, got an error that it couldn't find a compatible
C compiler. I was out of time so didn't pursue it...
Don't know why putty will connect and FreeNX not, they both seem to use Port 22 (which I assume is SSH).
I have it working for some time now, and that was the only port needed to be
opened/forwarded.
