I haven't seen any usb HD on which smart is supported :-(
They use a very cheap chipset, I suppose.
Yeah, the interface doesn't support it, but the drive's on-board
electronics are typically SATA or IDE (these are old enough they're
probably IDE) and do support it. Just no interface via USB to turn it on
in most cases.
