I have a ThinkPad T60 and installed SuSE 11 DVD and I got everything working.
Many years ago, I installed SuSE 7.3 and created a boot floppy and rescue disk.
When you booted up, you had several choices to select, one of them was
"boot installed system" and all you had to do was to enter "/dev/hd*
and it would boot that hard drive.
Is there anything similar available on the 11.0 DVD?

No. They removed the boot installed system option because there was a
problem with it in the Beta cycle, and a decision was made that it
wasn't needed and that that was the purposed of the rescue system.
The boot installed system won't help much if you've updated the kernel
because none of the hardware will work because that kernel won't match
the installed system's new modules.

How to create a boot floppy in SuSE 11.0?

Not a clue unfortunately.
