Well, being a windows-weenie, i first rebooted to see if anything changed. Nada.
Consider that a lesson then. In Linux you rarely have to reboot. I just checked the uptime on one of my home systems:
1:15pm up 248 days 3:09, 2 users, load average: 1.07, 0.99, 0.91
That's over 35 weeks of uptime and the last reboot was due to a UPS battery replacement.
You don't use "networkmanager" do you James? I agree on the rarely need to reboot. I have had similar uptimes in excess of 400 days, shortened only by hurricane Rita with servers using the traditional ifup method for network device control. However, I will swear that when networkmanager goes on the blink, no amount of "rcnetwork restart" "rcnetwork stop/start" or otherwise will fix it. It's disheartening, but I too try the reboot on that occasion. Trouble is -- it works...
