My mother (openSUSE 10.3 32-bit 1G RAM) calls me today and says I messed with
her fonts when I did an update on Sunday. (I often run the updater manually

I went over this evening and saw that (a) her desktop icons are all gone and
(b) her fonts are wacky. For example, see the enclosed screen. On reading
mail the font is large and bold. On writing mail the font is small and green.
Ideas?
I don't see anything wrong with the fonts.
You are replying to a mail, so the previous text is shown preceded with ">", with a different font. Absolutely normal. I you don't like that, change kmail settings.
Icons lost? Dunno. Did you change the theme? Reset to defaults. Try creating a new user and log in.
