Before reporting a bug:
Take a look at /var/log/zypper.log and see if it says anything. What's
probably happening is it's hitting a dependency problem. Try installing
them through YaST and see if a dependency box pops up. Another thing
you can do is open a konsole and su in it
and do tail -f /var/log/zypper.log and then run the update and watch the
konsole and see if anything catches your eye.
