[opensuse] 11.0 installs; won't boot

Installing from dvd, installation medium verified before and after
install.

Installing on Dell Dimension 3100 Pentium 4 2.8 GHZ, 512 ram, 120 gig
SATA hard drive.

Installation goes smoothly. System runs and operates fine after
install. After shutdown, it will not re-boot. It goes through the Dell
splash screen then to a blinking cursor.

I've tried repairing from the DVD, re-installed the boot loader numerous
times. Always the same result I've verified the boot order, the SATA
drive is first.

Stumped for now,

Anyone else had a similar issue?

All suggestions appreciated !
