[opensuse] hardware report: 11.0 is OK on MSI K9N2 SLI PLATINUM AM2+

Listmates:

Just a quick hardware report. openSuE 11.0 (kde 3) installed and updated quite
well on a MSI K9N2 SLI PLATINUM AM2+ with an AMD Phenom 9850 (125W) with 4G OCZ
Platinum PC2-8500 and evga e-GeForce 8800GT. All hardware was detected and
configured out of the box.

Only 2 issues encountered:

(1) openSuSE nVidia one-click install failed to write an xorg.conf requiring a
sax2 -m 0=nvidia manual conf (this hasn't been required with other nvidia
one-clicks I've done; and

(2) Yast->Network Device failed to restart eth0 after network card setup.

Other hardware note: If you do buy a MSI K9N2 SLI PLATINUM AM2+, _do not_
attempt to configure the BIOS and use the new "save user settings" feature
until you have flashed the BIOS to version 3.2. (you will guarantee a fried
BIOS). The 3.2 BIOS cures the problem:

The board runs fantastically fast. Full 7 Gig. DVD install in less that 30
minutes. Processor runs very, very cool even under load (CPU temp 28-30
degrees, board temp 30 degrees) (Arctic Silver instead of standard thermal pad
due to RMA) The BIOS and chipset work extremely well with the 8800GT fan
control (virtually NO fan noise at all). (contrast will prior posts about the
8800GT sounding like it was attempting vertical take-off in another box)

Even with relatively new hardware 11.0 and kde3 was up to the test, compiz
0.7.8 and all. Good job opensuse.
