Listmates,
After the install of the latest kernel update for 11.0 2.6.25.18-0.2-default,
I'm noticing a general sluggishness most apparent with graphics performance of
my ATI card. fglrx 8.53.4 is in use an there are no errors in
/var/log/Xorg.0.log. The most noticeable difference is in glxgears frame rates.
Prior to the kernel update, I was getting 950 FPS without compiz enabled, and
about 2600 FPS with compiz enabled. Now the frame rate is stuck at 950 FPS
regardless.
Nothing else has changed with my configuration other than loading the new
kernel. To me it looks like the kernel handling of either glx or aiglx has
changed in the 2.6.25.18-0.2 kernel that is really causing the graphics
performance to suffer.
I can't put my finger on anything more specific. Does anyone else have any ideas?
Listmates,
Disregard. I re-installed 2.6.25.16 and tested. Same 950-990 FPS with glxgears
so I deleted 2.6.25.16 and I'm back running 2.6.25.18. The 2600-2800 FPS was
for my 4 year older laptop from 2004..... Pity laptops don't come with better
graphics (of course the 2008 one was cheaper too).
