The only information I have is from the opensuse-commit mailing list. Up to
now no driver update has occured. I am only an opensuse member, not an
employee.
Ok.....just thought you'd heard something I hadn't. :(
I found that updating the 11.1 betas to RC1 just
isn't a good idea. I did a clean RC1 install last night, and KDE 4.*
behaves much better!! The only oddity I found is not being able to use
the "Default" desktop without locking the widgets first, unless this is
deliberate but undocumented. It's not a big deal....but wanted to note it.
I never observed such an issue. Please look if there is a bug report for this
(I will have a look, too).
What I think happens is that the more once customizes his desktop, the
greater the chances of an upgrade not working as it should. I did a
clean install PLUS deleted the .kde4 dir. and a few other files that
were related to KDE4. I think upgrades now should be ok.
At this point, I think my clients could use 11.1.....may be a few who
can't, but certainly most could,

Based on what I see with a clean install, I think it is, EXCEPT for the
Intel video drivers and has been reported, problems with some wifi
drivers as well. ALL of my clients use the Intel Pro. wifi chipsets
because I insist on it for any new purchased hardware....getting them to
do this hasn't been a problem. But others here and on other lists have
had problems with other chipsets.
EXCEPT for those with Intel video
chipsets!! The performance is abysmal and simply must get fixed!
I have read in the mailing lists about such an issue. I am sure ther is
already a bug report for this, but better you make sure it is.
Yes, there is....I just don't have the No.
I have an machine with an intel chipset myself (EEEPC 900A), an it works well,
even with all graphics effect, which are mostly useless on this small screen.
There is that. The i965 and others are specifically noted as having
problems. I do know that two other distos. use, I believe, the same
driver used in 11.0 WITH the current kernel and performance is fairly
good. I don't understand why that driver isn't used for the "problem"
Intel chipsets until either Intel or Novell is able to fix the latest
driver.
