Yes. That's what I do.

Why not just loop mount it? That way you don't have to unpack
anything.

James, there is nothing you can unpack - the only way to access the
contents of an ISO image is to 1oop mount it. Which I obviously do.

That's not what your reply to the OP says. They were asking about copying or unpacking the ISO to a directory and you said that's what you do. That is not the same thing as loop mounting an ISO.
