[opensuse] getting default mic to work on an OpenSuSE 11.1 machine

Hello everyone,

I've got a bunch of machines running OpenSuSE 11.1 (32-bit and 64-bit)
and all of them have one thing in common: the default built-in
microphone on them does not pick anything up. Is there a known fix I
have missed out on?

Any advice much appreciated.

Boris.
