Hello,
I'm trying to setup openSuSE 11.1 as a guest in VirtualBox 3.0.6 - the
host is Mac OS Snow Leopard/10.6 if it matters.
When I performed the initial install, the graphics configuration
automatically selected 16 bit and 800x600. I tried to change it to
1024x768 but the installer told me the framebuffer could not handle that
size (I forget the exact error).

Try to install Virtual Box Guest Additions,<snip>

That worked, thanks.
Before I installed the guest additions, I did have the opensuse-supplied
xorg-x11-driver-virtualbox-ose package installed, which contained an X11
driver but one way or the other it was not working - perhaps it just wasn't
configured by default.
After installing the Guest Additions xorg.conf is now configured with
the "vboxvideo" driver instead of the framebuffer, and I can change
resolution on the fly, including full-screen mode which is very nice.
Thank you,
JW
